St. Peter’s at Ellicott Mills Welcomes You

What is St. Peter's?

St. Peter’s is a vibrant community of faith, sharing in the transforming power of God's love, rooted in the Gospel of Christ, nourished in the joy, hope, and beauty that are God's gifts, called to worship,to dream, to risk, and to serve. We endeavor to seek and serve Christ in all persons, always remembering
With Christ as our Guide,
St Peter’s Episcopal Church at Elliott Mills
Is an Open and Supportive Community
That puts God’s Love into Action through
Service, Spiritual Growth and Joyful Celebration

The doors of St. Peter’s open wide in the name of Jesus Christ.

St. Peter’s has been a presence in Howard County for over 150 years and remains a proudly inclusive Episcopal parish. At St. Peter’s, we believe that worship is the center of life. We know this is what makes everything else we try to do main altar in the sanctuary of St Peter's Episcopal Church happen. Our care for each other and our community starts with loving God and our neighbors. We need to hear the Good News constantly and in ways that give us energy for our work in the world. Here you will find a diverse parish filled with people from all walks of life — married, partnered, single, gay, straight, young, and not-so-young.

St. Peter’s strives to express God’s love as revealed to us through Jesus. We live out that love through our worship, inclusivity, dedication to outreach, and commitment to one another. We’re a community that studies scripture together, celebrates communion together, and gathers for meals, laughter, and fun. And in doing these things, we find ourselves strengthened for our work in the world. You can visit our outreach page to get an idea of the various outreach efforts of St. Peter’s. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey — doubting, full-of-faith, or in between — there’s a place for you at St. Peter’s!

We have two Sunday morning services; 8:30 and 10:30. Both services use Rite II and are similar in nature. The 8:30 service is designed to be more of a family service featuring a children’s sermon the second Sunday of each month. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated at all services and the Holy Eucharist is open to all baptized Christians.

Whether you are new to this area, just visiting, or looking for a new church home, we are happy to have you worship with us. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is located at 3695 Rogers Ave in Ellicott City, Maryland. To view a map of our location, click here.

Occasionally the church reviews its bylaws and makes revisions because of changes around the church. At our recent Communications Sunday, a revised set of bylaws was presented to the congregation. You may click on one of the links below to see a copy of the revised bylaws for St. Peter's. Areas that have been changed are marked in red. You may also see a copy of St. Peter's current bylaws and a summary of the changes to the bylaws.

In order to allow time for everyone to read the bylaws and make comments, there will be a review period for comments about the by-Laws to be submitted to the committee. Then, 30 to 45 days from the date of the annual meeting (Jan 22, 2012), a special meeting will be held to discuss all comments that had been submitted. The entire congregation is invited to attend this meeting and to make comments. After that, no sooner than 60 days and no later than 90 days from the date of the annual meeting, another special meeting will be held for the congregation to vote on the by-laws.

Confirmation
Confirmation is the Sacrament in which a person who has been baptized makes an adult profession of faith before a Bishop of the Church. There is a period of study and preparation that leads up to Confirmation. Any teenage or adult interested in being confirmed next Spring (2012) should contact Fr. Kirk at 410-465-2273 or send a email to Fr. Kirk. Currently the plan is to combine individuals from St. Peter’s with a few girls from St. Timothy’s School into a single Confirmation class.
