Many of our parishioners choose to serve by being a member of our vestry.  The parish vestry supports the mission of the church and the Rector, takes care of parish finances and buildings, and chooses individuals to fill parish leadership positions.

At St. Peter’s, vestry members serve as liaisons between the parish, various operating committees, and the parish leadership.  The Vestry meets on second Monday of each month. Vestry elections are held at the Annual Meeting, which takes place in January of each year.

If you are interested in serving, the only qualification is that you must be a member of St. Peter’s. Vestry members serve for a term of 3 years. Parishioners interested in serving will be asked to write a simple statement of their experience and interests. This information is provided to the parish, which will vote each January on two new members.

If you are interested in being a member of the vestry, please feel free to speak with a vestry member. Any member can answer questions about what vestry service is like, and help you figure out if this may be a good fit for you. There is no single type of person or set of talents that make you uniquely qualified to serve on the vestry; there is a great interest in giving a wide variety of people the opportunity to be a part of this important body.
