We DID it !!! St. Peter’s celebrated its 175th anniversary as an Episcopal parish in Ellicott City on the evening of May 6th, 2017 !!
More than 200 people attended this gala event, which had been in the planning for 8 months and which featured live entertainment (The Showtime Singers), delightful sit-down dining al fresco (OK, under a very large tent), and two exciting auctions (live and silent).
The weather forecast was more like April than May, and we all expected a downpour. There was a pretty heavy mist for awhile, but it all worked out well in the end, and it sure looked like people were having the time of their lives! The dinners (thank you, Carrabba’s and Jason’s Wine & Spirits) were attractive, very tasty, and just the right temps. The Showtime Singers (thank you, Diane S) were fabulous (as always), and the auctions were both fun to watch and a huge success: several people are going go have some very nice vacations this year ! Even the after-party cleanup was fun, with good people pitching in many roles, good moods, and great music pouring out of the amps under the tent. It was awesome !!
Even better, St. Peter’s was able to donate $3000 to the Ellicott City Flood Relief partnership, to assist their efforts in getting historic EC fully back on its feet after last summer’s horrific flood. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 175th year in EC and help our dear neighbors, all in one swell foop.
There’s a rumor going around that planning for our 200th has begun. Not real sure about that, but we do expect it to happen at some point — so keep an eye out for ticket sales 🙂 !!!
